I was hungry and they gave me bitter food. I was thirsty and they offered me vinegar.
The soldiers joined in the mockery, offering Jesus a drink of vinegar.
And there the soldiers offered him a mild painkiller, a drink of wine mixed with gall, but after tasting it, he refused to drink it.
