The Passion Translation

In his burning anger, he shattered all the might of Israel as her enemies approached. He raged among his people like a flaming fire, which consumes everything near it.

I will increase the anointing that was upon David, and my glistening glory will rest upon my anointed one.

Why don’t you do something? You have the power to break in, so why would you hide your great power from us? Don’t hold back! Unleash your might and give them a final blow.

My praises will break the powers of wickedness, while the righteous will be promoted and become powerful!

Why would you speak with such stubborn pride? Don’t you dare raise your fist against me!”

How much longer, O  Yahweh, must we endure this? Does your anger have no end? Will your jealousy burn like a raging fire?

Because I love him and treasure him, my faithfulness will always protect him. I will place my great favor upon him, and I will cause his power and fame to increase.

How long will you hide your love from me? Have you left me for good? How long will your anger continue to burn against me?

The “powerful elite” will become like kindling and their evil deeds like sparks—both will burn together and no one will be able to put out the fire.

So he poured out the heat of his anger and they suffered the fury of war. His anger enveloped them in flames, but they still did not understand— consumed by fire yet they did not take it to heart.

I will punish you as your evil deeds deserve, declares Yahweh. And I will kindle a fire in your forest, and it will consume everything around you.”

Listen, people of Judah and Jerusalem. Circumcise your hearts and become vulnerable to me. If you do not, my anger will blaze up like unquenchable fire on account of your evil deeds.”

Yahweh declares: “All the strength of Moab is cut off, and her power is broken.”

Therefore, listen to the words of the Lord Yahweh: ‘My anger and my wrath will be poured out in this place, on the people and the animals, on the trees and on the crops; my anger will burn as a fire that no one can put out.’

“From on high, he sent a fire deep in my bones, and it conquered me. He trapped my feet in his snare and hurled me back. He left me stunned in misery that had no end.

At the peak of Yahweh’s wrath, he vented his fierce anger! He lit a fire in Zion and burned it down to the ground.

“ ‘Therefore this is what I, Lord Yahweh, say to you: My anger will break forth as a windstorm and my wrath will break loose like a torrential rain, and I will send great hailstones to destroy your wall!

The trumpet sounds, everyone gets ready, but no one goes into battle, since my anger rests on everyone alike.’ ”

He has in his hands a winnowing fork to clean up his threshing floor! He will separate the wheat from the chaff. The wheat he will gather into his barn, but he will burn the chaff in a fire that no one can ever put out!”
