Joshua 18:25

The Passion Translation

There were another fourteen cities, along with the towns around them, which also belonged to the tribe of Benjamin. These cities were Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth, Mizpah, Chephirah, Mozah, Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah, Zela, Haeleph, Jebus (or Jerusalem), Gibeah, and Kiriath. Joshua assigned this land and all these cities to the tribes of Benjamin.

They went through the pass and spent the night at Geba. Ramah was alarmed and trembled. Those in Gibeah, the city of Saul, ran for their lives.

The Lord Yahweh will suddenly arise as on Mount Perazim and in the valley of Gibeon. He arises to accomplish his strange work—peculiar as it is— his strange work of judgment.

They received four cities from the territory of Benjamin: Gibeon, Geba, Anathoth, and Almon, along with the pastureland of each.

Joshua then had the clans of Judah come forward, and Yahweh picked out the clan of Zerah. Joshua then had the clan of Zerah come forward and Yahweh indicated the family of Zimri.

So the Israelites set out at once, and on the third day, they came to their cities: Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath Jearim.

When the inhabitants of Gibeon learned how Joshua had destroyed Jericho and Ai,

His master said to him, “No. They are not of Israel. We will not enter a town of foreigners. We will go on to Gibeah.

Come,” he said to his attendant, “we’ll go to another town and spend the night either in Gibeah or in Ramah.”
