However, the Ephraimites did not drive out the Canaanites from the city of Gezer, but they conscripted the Canaanites to serve them to this day.

The tribe of Ephraim failed to drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer, so the Canaanites continue to live there among them.

Later, when the Israelites grew strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor but did not utterly drive them out.

The people of Judah could not dislodge the Jebusites from Jerusalem, and they live among the people of Judah to this day.

Meanwhile, Horam, king of Gezer, had marched out to help Lachish, but Joshua defeated him and his army, leaving no survivors.

Yet the men of Manasseh failed to take possession of those towns, and the Canaanites continued to live in that land.
