Then the boundary ran through the Hinnom Valley along the southern slope of Jebus (now known as Jerusalem). From there it went to the top of the hill west of the Hinnom Valley at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaites.

It will be as when a farmer harvests the standing grain and gathers armloads of grain, and as one gathers ears of grain in the Valley of Giants.

When Jeremiah returned from Topheth, where Yahweh had sent him to prophesy, he stood in the court of Yahweh’s temple and said to all the people:

and go to the Hinnom Valley, just outside the Potsherd Gate. Speak to the people the words I give you.

Because they have done all this, behold, the time is coming when this place will no longer be called Topheth or the Hinnom Valley, but people will call it Slaughter Valley, declares Yahweh.

The people of Judah could not dislodge the Jebusites from Jerusalem, and they live among the people of Judah to this day.

It continued down to the foot of the mountain on the north side of the Valley of Rephaites, where the Hinnom Valley begins. From there it went south through the Hinnom Valley to the south slope of Jerusalem and then downward to En Rogel.

The tribe of Benjamin, however, failed to conquer the Jebusites living in Jerusalem. So to this day, the Jebusites live among the Benjamites in Jerusalem.

The men of Judah attacked Jerusalem and captured it. They killed the inhabitants of the city and set it on fire.

But the Levite refused; he and his two donkeys, his servant, and his mistress set out and traveled as far as the vicinity of Jebus—that is, Jerusalem.
