extended north from the city of Mahanaim, including all of Bashan and the sixty villages of Jair. King Og of Bashan had once ruled over all this territory.
Since Joshua assigned land to both Manasseh’s male and female descendants, the tribe of Manasseh received ten shares of land on the west side of the Jordan River and two on the east (the territories of Gilead and Bashan).
To one half of the tribe of Manasseh, Moses had assigned land in Bashan. To the other half, Joshua assigned land on the west side of the Jordan with their fellow Israelites. Joshua blessed them and sent them off to their homes
