If you were to give your allegiance to the world, they would love and welcome you as one of their own. But because you won’t align yourself with the values of this world, they will hate you. I have chosen you and taken you out of the world to be mine.

For all who choose to live godly as worshipers of Jesus, the Anointed One, will also experience persecution.

You have become spiritual adulterers who are having an affair, an unholy relationship with the world. Don’t you know that flirting with the world’s values places you at odds with God? Whoever chooses to be the world’s friend makes himself God’s enemy!

Adoni-zedek, the king of Jerusalem, was struck with fear when he heard how Joshua had totally destroyed the kings and cities of Ai and Jericho and that the people of Gibeon had made a peace treaty with Israel and were living alongside them. The city of Gibeon was larger than Ai, as large as any of the cities that were ruled by a king, and all its men were known as great warriors.

The five Amorite kings joined forces—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon. Their combined armies surrounded Gibeon and attacked it.

Joshua agreed to let them live. He made a peace treaty with them, and the leaders of the assembly sealed it with an oath.

They marvel that you no longer rush to join them in the excesses of their corrupt lifestyles, and so they vilify you.

They were demonic spirits performing signs, and they entered into the kings of the world to draw them into battle on the great day of God, the Almighty.
