I planted you like a special vine from the absolute best seed, but look at what you’ve become now! You’re like a twisted, rotten vine.

We are coworkers with God and you are God’s cultivated garden, the house he is building.

All your people will be righteous and will permanently possess the land. I planted them there as a tender sapling, the work of my own hands to display my glory.

In that day, the branch of Yahweh will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth will be the pride and glory of the remnant of Israel.

For my body is real food for your spirit and my blood is real drink.

Many rulers have destroyed my vineyard. They have trampled my property and have made my magnificent fields into a desolate desert.

Yet, in a sense, it is a new commandment, as its truth is made manifest both in Christ and in you, because the darkness is disappearing and the true light is already blazing.

Then Jesus began to speak to them in parables: “There once was a man who planted a vineyard and put a secure fence around it. He dug a pit for its winepress and erected a watch tower. Then he leased it to tenant-farmers and traveled abroad.

“Pay close attention to this parable,” Jesus said. “There once was an honorable man who planted a vineyard. He built a fence around it, dug out a pit for pressing the grapes, and erected a watchtower. Afterward he leased the land to tenant farmers and then went a distance away.

“The truth is,” Jesus said, “Moses didn’t give you the bread of heaven. It’s my Father who offers bread that comes as a dramatic sign from heaven.

Then Jesus told them this parable: “There was a man who planted a fig tree in his orchard. But every time he came to gather fruit from his tree he found none, for it was barren.

“This will help you understand the way heaven’s kingdom operates: “There once was a wealthy landowner who went out at daybreak to hire all the laborers he could find to work in his vineyard.

Let us arise and run to the vineyards of your people and see if the budding vines of love are now in full bloom. We will discover if their passion is awakened. There I will display my love for you.

For the perfect Light of Truth was coming into the world and shine upon everyone.

Moses gave us the Law, but Jesus, the Anointed One, unveils truth wrapped in tender mercy.

to strengthen those crushed by despair who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful bouquet in the place of ashes, the oil of bliss instead of tears, and the mantle of joyous praise instead of the spirit of heaviness. Because of this, they will be known as Mighty Oaks of Righteousness, planted by Yahweh as a living display of his glory.

“ ‘Your mother was like a grapevine planted beside a stream, with luscious fruit and full of branches, because the water flowed so abundantly.

Jesus replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father didn’t plant is destined to be uprooted.

He cares for the branches connected to me by lifting and propping up the fruitless branches and pruning every fruitful branch to yield a greater harvest.

However, some of the branches have been pruned away. And you, who were once nothing more than a wild olive branch, God has grafted in—inserting you among the remaining branches as a joint partner to share in the wonderful richness of the cultivated olive stem.
