Only the withering soul would say to himself, “There is no God.” Anyone who thinks like this is corrupt and callous, devoid of what is good.

God’s righteous people will pour themselves out for the poor, but the ungodly make no attempt to understand or help the needy.

They simply requested one thing of me: that I would remember the poor and needy, which was the burden I was already carrying in my heart.

Suppose an influential man comes into your worship meeting wearing gold rings and expensive clothing, and also a homeless man in shabby clothes comes in.

But yet you insult and shun the poor in your efforts to impress the rich! Isn’t it the wealthy who exploit you and drag you into court?
