Yahweh says: “The wise must not boast in their wisdom, the mighty must not boast in their power, and the wealthy must not boast in their riches.

The Lord loves seeing justice on the earth. Anywhere and everywhere you can find his faithful, unfailing love!

Join me, everyone! Let’s praise the Lord together. Let’s make him famous! Let’s make his name glorious to all.

But you have turned your back on us; you walked off and left us! You’ve rejected us, tossing us aside in humiliating shame. You don’t go before us anymore in our battles.

The wealth of the world is nothing to God. So if your wealth increases, don’t be boastful or put your trust in your money. And don’t you think for a moment that you can get away with stealing by overcharging others just to get more for yourself!

When judgment day comes, all the wealth of the world won’t help you one bit. So be rich in righteousness, for that’s the only thing that can save you in death.

All your brilliant wisdom and clever insight will be of no help at all if the Lord is against you.

Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make.

and thinks, “After all, I have made my executive commanders into kings.

And those who put their hope in ‘glorious Cush’ and ‘mighty Egypt,’ will be shattered and totally ashamed.”

You felt so smug and secure in your wickedness. You thought, ‘No one sees me.’ Your idea of ‘wisdom’ and self-professed ‘knowledge’ has led you astray, saying in your heart, ‘I am! There is none like me!’

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and see themselves as clever and shrewd.

None of them will have to teach their friends or family, saying, ‘Come and know Yahweh intimately!’ No, from the least to the greatest, they will all know me intimately,” Yahweh declares, “for I will remove their guilt and wipe their sin from my memory.”

“How, then, can you say, ‘We are heroes of Moab and mighty men of war’?

Moab, you put your faith in your works and your wealth. That is why you, too, will be conquered. Your god Chemosh will go into captivity, along with his priests and officials.

Why do you glory in your ebbing strength, you rebellious ones? For you trust in your great wealth and say, ‘Who will dare to attack me?’

The land of Egypt will become an empty desert, and they will know that I am Yahweh. Because you boasted, “The Nile is mine, I made it. It’s all mine,”

They will throw their silver away in the streets and their gold like filthy menstrual rags. Their wealth will not be able to save them on the day of Yahweh’s fury. For it will be worthless on that day to buy food to fill their stomachs since it was their wealth that led them into sin.

I now give you one more chance. When you hear the ram’s horn and the music of the flute, the lyre, the ten-stringed harp, the triangular harp, the drums, and all the other instruments, you will bow down to the ground and worship the golden statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a white-hot fiery furnace. So now, who is the god that can save you from my power?”

And now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, extol, and glorify God, the King of heaven! All his works are right and true, and all his ways are right. He knows how to humble those who strut around in pride.”

The disciples were startled when they heard this. But Jesus again said to them, “Children, it is next to impossible for those who trust in their riches to find their way into God’s kingdom.

Although claiming to be wise, they were in fact shallow fools.

And this fulfills what is written: If anyone boasts, let him only boast in all that the Lord has done!

And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus and to experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me. I will be one with him in his sufferings and become like him in his death.

To truly know him meant letting go of everything from my past and throwing all my boasting on the garbage heap. It’s all like a pile of manure to me now, so that I may be enriched in the reality of knowing Jesus Christ and embrace him as Lord in all of his greatness.

Loving money is a root of all evils. Some people run after it so much that they have given up their faith. Craving more money pushes them away from the faith into error, compounding misery in their lives!
