For Yahweh says: ‘The people of Judah have done what is evil before my eyes. They have defiled the house that bears my name by placing their detestable idols inside it.

So I chose to punish them and to bring on them what they fear the most because I called out to them and they ignored me. I spoke and they did not listen but did what is evil in my sight and chose what I despise.”

First, I will pay them back in full— even double for their evil and their sins. They have defiled my land and made it unfit for me because of their dead, detestable idols and have filled the land I have chosen for my own with their abominations.”

And in the Valley of Hinnom, they have built shrines to Baal. They have sacrificed their little sons and daughters to Molech in the fire—something I never commanded, nor did it ever enter my thoughts!”

Once they were so proud of their beautiful jewelry, out of which they made their disgusting, horrible idols. Now I have made their wealth and jewels repulsive to them.

He reached out with what seemed like a hand and grabbed me by my hair. Then, in a great and wonderful vision from God, the Spirit lifted me up high in the air and transported me to Jerusalem. He took me to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court where the disgusting idol that provokes Yahweh’s jealousy was standing.

“He will then dispatch his armed forces to enter and profane the sacred temple-stronghold. They will abolish the daily sacrifice and, in its place, set the blasphemous abomination that brings desolation.

“For one week he will confirm a covenant with many people, but in the middle of that week, he will abolish sacrifices and offerings. “On the wing of the temple, an appalling abomination will be erected. And the abomination will remain there until God does away with the one who placed it there, just as God has determined.”
