Jeremiah 45:1

The Passion Translation

In the fourth year of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, Yahweh gave me a word for Baruch son of Neriah while I was dictating to Baruch the message that he wrote down in a scroll.

This is the message that came to Jeremiah about the people of Judah. He received this prophecy in the fourth year that Jehoiakim son of Josiah was king of Judah and the first year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign in Babylon.

Yahweh spoke these words to Jeremiah at the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah.

and I handed them over to Baruch son of Neriah, grandson of Mahseiah, in the presence of my cousin Hanamel. The witnesses who had signed the deed of purchase and all the people who happened to be in the palace guardhouse were gathered there.

After I had entrusted the deed of purchase to Baruch son of Neriah, I prayed:

In the fourth year that Jehoiakim son of Josiah was king of Judah, Yahweh said to me,

“Get a scroll and write on it every word that I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah, and all the nations from the first time I spoke to you when Josiah was king up to now.

Then he commanded Prince Jerahmeel, together with Seraiah son of Azriel and Shelemiah son of Abdeel, to arrest me and my scribe Baruch, but Yahweh had hidden us.

Then I took another scroll and gave it to Baruch my scribe, and he wrote down everything that I dictated. He wrote everything that had been on the first scroll that Jehoiakim had destroyed. I also dictated to Baruch many similar prophecies, which were added as well.

So I summoned Baruch son of Neriah and dictated to him everything that Yahweh had said to me, and Baruch wrote it all down on a scroll.

I said to him, “Baruch, this is what Yahweh God of Israel says about you.

This is a prophecy against the army of Pharaoh Neco of Egypt at Carchemish on the river Euphrates. King Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonians defeated the Egyptians in the fourth year of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah.

Now Jeremiah had written all these prophecies of Babylon’s doom on a scroll. In the fourth year of the reign of Zedekiah, the king of Judah, the king traveled to Babylonia, accompanied by his personal attendant, Seraiah son of Neriah and grandson of Mahseiah. Jeremiah gave Seraiah the scroll

It was the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah when Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, marched on Jerusalem and besieged the city.
