Fear nothing when you confront the people, for I am with you, and I will protect you. I, Yahweh, have spoken.”

Yahweh answered me: “I will surely deliver you for a good reason. Have I not stood beside you in times of difficulty and in times of distress against the enemy?

They will fight and attack you, but I will make you as strong and secure as a fortified wall of bronze. They will not conquer you, for I already have! I am with you to deliver and rescue you,” declares Yahweh.

“I will save you from the power of the wicked and rescue you from the clutches of ruthless men.”

But Zedekiah, his officials, and the people paid no attention to the words Yahweh had spoken through me.

The word of Yahweh that came to Jeremiah. I was bound with chains and led away along with all the other people from Jerusalem and Judah that the Babylonians were taking as prisoners to Babylon. When we got to Ramah, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the guard, realized what had happened to me and released me.

Today I release you from your chains. If you would like to come with me to Babylon, then come. I will make sure you are cared for. If you do not want to come to Babylon with me, then stay here. See, you have the whole land before you, so go wherever you think it best.”

In the nineteenth year that Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon, on the tenth day of the fifth month of that year, the field general Nebuzaradan, who served the king, entered Jerusalem.

He then ordered the captain to keep Paul in protective custody, but to give him a measure of freedom, he allowed any of his friends to visit him and help take care of his needs.
