Jeremiah 34:1

The Passion Translation

Yahweh spoke to me when Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, was at war against Jerusalem and the cities of Judah. He had all his army with him, including soldiers from all the kingdoms of his empire.

Listen! I, Yahweh, declare that I am about to summon all the armies of the northern kingdoms. Their kings will come and set up their thrones at the gates of Jerusalem. They will attack its walls and all the other cities of Judah.

Yahweh spoke to me in the tenth year of Zedekiah’s reign in Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign.

At that time, the Babylonian army was attacking Jerusalem, and I was confined in the king’s palace guardhouse.

Meanwhile, the army of Babylon was trying to break through the walls of Lachish and Azekah, the only remaining fortified towns of Judah.

King Nebuchadnezzar, to all peoples, nations, and language groups in the land: “I wish you perfect peace and prosperity!

that tree, Your Majesty, is you! You are now so great and strong that it reaches into heaven, and your authority reaches over the entire land.

God made him so great that people everywhere—people from every nation, tribe, and language group—trembled with fear and dread of him. He killed or spared whomever he pleased, and he exalted or humbled whomever he wished.
