Jeremiah 30:8

The Passion Translation

“In that day,” declares Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, “I will break off the yoke from your neck and snap your chains, and foreigners will no longer enslave you.

His light broke through the darkness and he led us out in freedom from death’s dark shadow and snapped every one of our chains.

In that day the Lord will remove the heavy burden from your shoulders and break off the yoke of bondage from your necks because of the heavy anointing upon you!

The Lord Yahweh will most certainly show tender mercy to the Israelites. He will choose them again and settle them in their own land. Even foreigners will accompany them and join with the Jewish people.

I will crush the Assyrians who invade my land. I will trample them on my mountains. Their yoke of slavery will be removed from my people and their heavy burden from their shoulders.

In that day, when the Lord Yahweh has given you rest from your pain, trouble, and cruel bondage,

For you have broken the chains that have bound your people and lifted off the heavy bar across their shoulders, the rod the oppressor used against them. You have shattered all their bondage, just as you did when Midian’s armies were defeated.

“Long ago, you broke your bond with me and severed ties. You boldly said, ‘I will not serve you!’ Yet, on every high hill and under every green tree, you offered yourself to other gods. You were like a prostitute sprawled out awaiting sex.

Indeed, I will pay back the Babylonians for every wrong they have done. Great kings from many other nations will conquer the mighty Babylonians and will even make slaves of them.’ ”

Yahweh said to me: “Make a harness, attach it to the wooden bars of a yoke, and put them on your neck.

All nations will serve him, his son, and his grandson —until the time of the fall of his own kingdom comes, when other nations and great kings will make him their servant.

All at once, the prophet Hananiah snatched the yoke off Jeremiah’s neck and broke it.

“Go back and inform Hananiah, ‘Yahweh has told me that, indeed, you have broken wooden bars only to forge iron bars in their place.

And I will also bring back Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles of Judah who have gone to Babylon.’ For Yahweh declares, ‘I will shatter the yoke of the king of Babylon.’ ”

At Tahpanhes, I will turn day to darkness when I shatter Egypt’s strength and silence the boast of her might. I will blanket Egypt with dark clouds, and her people will go into captivity.

And the tree of the field will yield its luscious fruit, the earth will yield its harvest, and they will live safely in their own land. When I set them free from slavery and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them, then they will acknowledge that I am Yahweh.
