The least and the greatest alike will die in this land. They will not be buried. No one will mourn for them, cut themselves, or shave their heads to show their grief.

In that day, the Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, called you to repent with weeping and mourning and to show your remorse by shaving your heads and wearing sackcloth.

Everyone will experience the same fate— priests and people, masters and slaves, their maids and mistresses, buyers and sellers, lenders and borrowers, rich and poor.

eighty men arrived from the towns of Shechem, Shiloh, and Samaria. They were on their way to the temple to offer gifts of grain and incense to Yahweh. They had shaved off their beards, torn their clothes, and cut themselves because they were mourning.

The people of Gaza will mourn with great sorrow, for Ashkelon has been destroyed. You descendants of the giants, how long will you slash yourselves?

Every head is shaved, and every beard is cut off as a sign of mourning. And around the waist is sackcloth, on all the hands are gashes.

Because they did these things, their bones will not be buried but will become fertilizer for the ground.

When Jesus finally entered the home of the Jewish leader, he saw a noisy crowd of mourners, wailing and playing a funeral dirge on their flutes.

I saw the dead, the lowly and the famous alike, standing before the throne. Books were opened, and then another book was opened: the Book of Life. The dead were judged by what they had done as recorded in the books.

Then the kings of the earth and its great princes and generals, the rich and powerful, and everyone, whether they were slave or free, ran for cover and hid in the caves and among the mountain boulders.
