The Passion Translation

See! Today I have imparted to you great authority over nations and governments, to uproot and demolish, to destroy and dismantle. And you will plant and build something new.”

“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew you intimately. I had divine plans for you before I gave you life, and I set you apart and chose you to be mine. You are my prophetic gift to the nations.”

My eyes will compassionately watch over them for their good, to bring them back to this land, to build them up and not to tear them down, to plant them and not to uproot them.

I will bring against that land all my words of warning that I have spoken against it, everything written in this scroll, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.

I have watched over them to uproot, to knock down, to overthrow, destroy, and bring calamity, so now, I will carefully watch over them as they start over again and rebuild. And I will help them grow,” declares Yahweh.

And the entire Hinnom Valley, with its bones and ashes, and all the fields as far as the brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate eastward, will be consecrated and sacred to Yahweh. Jerusalem will never be overthrown or destroyed again.”

“Get a scroll and write on it every word that I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah, and all the nations from the first time I spoke to you when Josiah was king up to now.

Behold, instead of watching over you for good, I will watch for chances to harm you. Some of you will die in war, and others will die by famine until you are wiped out.

But here is a message for you. Yahweh says to you: ‘That which I have built I am about to knock down, and what I have planted I will uproot over the entire land.

“Son of man, mark out two roads for the king of Babylon to come with his sword; both should originate from the same land. Then put up a signpost at the place where the road branches off to the city.

And Yahweh said to me, “Son of man, are you ready to render judgment upon Oholah and Oholibah and charge them with their detestable practices?

“Son of man, weep and mourn for the vast population of Egypt, and for the other mighty nations. For I will send them down to the world below with all who sink into the pit.

And the nations around you will know that I, Yahweh, have rebuilt the ruined places and replanted what was once desolate. I, Yahweh, make this promise and will do it.’

This vision was like the one I had seen when he came to destroy the city and like those visions I had experienced by the River Chebar. Then I fell facedown to the ground.
