But you don’t have a clue what tomorrow may bring. For your fleeting life is but a warm breath of air that is visible in the cold only for a moment and then vanishes!

For my days of happiness have gone up in smoke. My body is raging with fever, my heart is sick, and I’m consumed by this illness— withered like a dead leaf. I can’t even eat.

For man is nothing but a faint whisper, a mere breath. We spend our days like nothing more than a passing shadow.

What a brief time you’ve given me to live! Compared to you my lifetime is nothing at all! Nothing more than a puff of air—I’m gone so swiftly. So too are the grandest of men; they are nothing but a fleeting shadow!” Pause in his presence

He knew that they were made from mere dust— frail, fragile, and short-lived, here today and gone tomorrow.

Remember, Lord, I am nothing but dust, here today and so soon blown away. Is this all you’ve created us for? For nothing but this?

Never brag about the plans you have for tomorrow, for you don’t have a clue what tomorrow may bring to you.

So once and for all, stop trusting in man, who is but one breath from death—frail and puny man!

My body is being folded up and taken from me, taken down like a shepherd’s tent. He cuts my life short, as a weaver cuts his cloth from the loom and rolls it up. From day to night, you bring my life to an end.

But those who are rich should boast in how God has brought them low and humbled them, for all their earthly glory will one day fade away like a wildflower in the meadow.

Human beings are frail and temporary, like grass, and the glory of man fleeting like blossoms of the field. The grass dries and withers and the flowers fall off,

Since we are approaching the end of all things, be intentional, purposeful, and self-controlled so that you can be given to prayer.

This world and its desires are in the process of passing away, but those who love to do the will of God live forever.
