Isaiah 6:1

The Passion Translation

In the year that King Uzziah died, I clearly saw the Lord. He was seated on his exalted throne, towering high above me. His long, flowing robe of splendor spread throughout the temple.

Lord God, be exalted as you soar throughout the heavens. May your shining glory be seen high above all the earth!

No one can be compared to God, enthroned on high!

Surrender your anxiety. Be still and realize that I am God. I am God above all the nations, and I am exalted throughout the whole earth.

Here is the vision that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, received by divine revelation concerning what was going to happen to Judah and Jerusalem during the times of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

In that glorious day, you will say to one another, “Give thanks to the Lord and ask him for more! Tell the world about all that he does! Let them know how magnificent he is!”

For this is what the high and majestic one says, the one who fills the eternal realm with glory, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in high and holy places but also with the bruised and lowly in spirit, those who are humble and quick to repent. I dwell with them to revive the spirit of the humble, to revive the heart of those who are broken over their sin.

This is what Yahweh says: “The heavens are my throne and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where is the place where I will rest?

I am Ezekiel the son of Buzi, a priest. I was living among the Jewish exiles in Babylon by the River Chebar. One day when I was thirty, the heavens opened before my eyes, and I saw visions of God! It happened on the fifth day of the fourth month during the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s exile. It was then that the word of Yahweh was powerfully revealed to me, and I felt the mighty hand of Yahweh come upon me!

Then I saw a vision. On top of the dome over the heads of the cherubim, I saw something that looked like a sapphire throne.

The dazzling glory of Yahweh rose from between the cherubim and rested over the entrance of the temple. The temple was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the radiance of the glory of Yahweh.

My lord, how can I, your servant, even talk to you? I have no strength, and I can barely catch my breath!”

As I looked on, I observed a heavenly courtroom. Various thrones were being arranged until the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow, and his hair was white like perfectly clean wool. His throne was a tempest of fiery flames, set upon wheels of blazing fire.

“When the Son of Man appears in his majestic glory, with all his angels by his side, he will take his seat on his throne of splendor,

No one ever before gazed upon the full splendor of God except his uniquely beloved Son, who is cherished by the Father and held close to his heart. Now that he has come to us, he has unfolded the full explanation of who God truly is!

Isaiah said these things because he had seen and experienced the splendor of Jesus and prophesied about him.

He alone is the immortal God, living in the unapproachable light of divine glory! No one has ever seen his fullness, nor can they, for all the glory and endless authority of the universe belongs to him, forever and ever. Amen!

The sanctuary was filled with the thick cloud of smoke billowing out from the glory and power of God—and no one could even enter the sanctuary until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

Then I saw a great, dazzling-white throne and the One who sits on it. Heaven and earth fled from his presence and they were no more.

And to the one who conquers I will give the privilege of sitting with me on my throne, just as I conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

the twenty-four elders fell facedown before the one seated on the throne and they worshiped the one who lives forever and ever. And they surrendered their crowns before the throne, singing:

Instantly I was taken into the spirit realm, and behold—I saw a heavenly throne being set in place and someone seated upon it.

His appearance was sparkling like crystal and glowing like a carnelian gemstone. Surrounding the throne was a circle of green light, like an emerald rainbow.

And whenever the living creatures gave glory, honor, and thanks to the One who is enthroned and who lives forever and ever,

And I saw that the one seated on the throne was holding in his right hand an unopened scroll with writing on the inside and on the outside, and it was sealed with seven seals.

I saw the young Lamb approach the throne and take the scroll from the right hand of the one who sat there.

They called out to the mountains and the boulders, saying, “Fall on us at once! Hide us quickly from the glorious face of the one seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb,
