The Passion Translation

Seven women will take hold of one man in that day, saying, “We will eat our own food and wear our own clothing; just take away our disgrace and let us be called by your name.”

She conceived, and bore a son, and named him Joseph, saying, “God has taken away my disgrace. May Yahweh add to me another son.”

In that day, neither the remnant of Israel nor the survivors of the house of Jacob will lean anymore upon the one who abused them, but they will lean fully on the faithfulness of the Lord Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel.

I will make a person scarcer than fine gold and people rarer than a wedge of gold from Ophir.

In that day, people will gaze toward their Creator, and their eyes will look in faith toward the Holy One of Israel.

The arrogant will be humbled and the pride of man brought low. Only one will be exalted in that day: Yahweh!

People’s arrogance will be conquered and brought low, and those proud of heart will be humiliated. Only one will be exalted in that day: Yahweh!

One man will even seize a relative right in his father’s house and say, “At least you own a coat; you be our leader! You can oversee this heap of ruins!”

Do not fear, for your shame is no more. Do not be embarrassed, for you will not be disgraced. You will forget the inadequacy you felt in your youth and will no longer remember the shame of your widowhood.

Their widows became more numerous than the sands of the seas. In broad daylight, I have brought against them an unexpected destroyer to kill young men and mothers alike. Suddenly, I brought upon them terror and panic.

With joy she exclaimed, “See how kind it is of God to gaze upon me and take away the disgrace of my barrenness!”

For these will be the days of God’s vengeance to fulfill what has been written against Jerusalem.

So with the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, we order them to go back to work in an orderly fashion and exhort them to earn their own living.
