Isaiah 27:1

The Passion Translation

In that day, the Lord Yahweh will mercilessly wield his massive, mighty sword and punish Leviathan, the swift, slithering serpent. He will slay the dragon of the sea — Leviathan, the twisting serpent.

Trading ships glide through the high seas. And look! There are the massive whales bounding upon the waves.

Now strap your lightning-sword of judgment upon your side, O mighty warrior, so majestic! You are full of beauty and splendor as you go out to war!

For the Lord is coming out from his heavenly place to punish people for their sins. The earth itself will expose the blood spilled upon it, and the ground will no longer hide its slain.

Awake, God, awake! Arm of Yahweh, put on your robe of strength! Awake and do the works of power as in ancient days, as in generations past! Wasn’t it you who smashed the sea monster to pieces, who pierced the dragon in generations long ago?

For I will destine you for the sword! You will all kneel down to be slaughtered like sheep because when I called, you did not answer, and when I spoke, you did not listen! You did evil before me and chose what I despise.”

For with fire and with his sword Yahweh will judge humanity— many will be the slain of Yahweh!

Then I saw another wild beast coming up from the ground. It had two horns like a ram, but it spoke like the dragon.

They worshiped the dragon because he had given the beast its ruling authority. They also worshiped the wild beast, saying, “Who is like the wild beast? And who is able to make war against him?”

Then I saw three unclean spirits like frogs belched from the mouths of the dragon, the wild beast, and the false prophet.

Then one of the seven angels with the seven bowls approached me and said, “Come, and I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who sits enthroned on many waters.

And he said to me, “The waters that you saw, upon which the great prostitute is seated, represent peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages.

and their armies were killed by the sharp sword that came from the mouth of the rider on the white horse. And all the birds gorged themselves with their flesh.

So repent, then, or I will come quickly to war against them with the sword of my mouth.

He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent known as the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.
