A day is coming when this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “The city is a stronghold for us! The Lord’s salvation, like inner and outer walls, makes it secure.

The name of the Lord is blessed and lifted high! For his marvelous miracle of mercy protected me when I was overwhelmed by my enemies.

Circle Zion; count her towers. Consider her walls, climb her palaces, and then go and tell the coming generation of the care and compassion of our God.

See how the mighty kings united to come against Zion, yet when they saw God manifest in front of their eyes, they were stunned. Trembling, they all fled away, gripped with fear. Seized with panic, they doubled up in frightful anguish, like a woman in the labor pains of childbirth.

In that day you will sing, “I praise you, Lord Yahweh, for even though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, and now you tenderly comfort me.

Wail, O gate! Cry out, O city! Melt with fear, Philistia! For a cloud of smoke comes out of the north, and there is no straggler among them.

The arrogant will be humbled and the pride of man brought low. Only one will be exalted in that day: Yahweh!

In that day, people will throw away the worthless idols their hands have made from gold and silver. They will fling their treasures to the rodents and bats

In that day they will say, “Behold! This is our God! We’ve waited for him, and he saved us! This one, the Lord Yahweh—he is worth the wait! We will keep shouting with joy as we find our bliss in his salvation-kiss!”

Just as a bird hovers over its nest to protect its young, so will Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, shield Jerusalem. He will protect her, deliver her, spare her, and rescue her!”

Fear will cause them to surrender their high fortress, and they will panic at the sight of princes, and desert their battle flag,” says the Lord God, whose fire burns in Zion and whose furnace burns in Jerusalem!

Yahweh is high and lifted up; he dwells on high! He lavished his justice and righteousness on Zion!

He will be your constant source of stability in changing times, and out of his abundant love he gives you the riches of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. Yes, the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure!

In that day, the branch of Yahweh will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth will be the pride and glory of the remnant of Israel.

Let me sing a song for the one I love, called “My Lover and His Vineyard”: My beloved planted a vineyard on a very fertile hill.

‘I will bestow upon them within my household both an honored place and an honored name, even better than the honor that comes from having children. I bestow upon them my everlasting favor; you will never be forgotten.’
