Everyone will experience the same fate— priests and people, masters and slaves, their maids and mistresses, buyers and sellers, lenders and borrowers, rich and poor.

Prior to the famine, Joseph and Asenath, daughter of Potiphera, priest of Heliopolis, had two sons.

The people will be humiliated, all of humanity humbled, and the arrogant will be brought low.

Then suddenly Ishmael jumped up with his armed men and killed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, grandson of Shaphan. They killed Gedaliah, the man whom the king of Babylon had appointed governor in the land.

Yes, I, Yahweh, the God of Israel, Commander of Angel Armies, say to you: Just as my furious anger was poured out on the people of Jerusalem, so will my fury be poured out on you if you go to Egypt. You will be something that people will curse, and people will use your name when they pronounce a curse. You will be a horrifying sight, and people will make fun of you, and you will never see this place again.’ ”

Yet this happened because of the sins of her prophets and the crimes of her priests, who shed innocent blood in the heart of the city.

The face of Yahweh scattered them; he will look on them no more. They had no respect for the priests, no honor for her leaders.

The punishment of my beloved people exceeded the judgment of sinful Sodom, which was suddenly destroyed without an army attacking her.
