And God heard the voice of the boy. The angel of God called out to Hagar from the heavenly realm and said, “What’s the matter, Hagar? Don’t be afraid, for God has heard the voice of your son crying as he lies there.

O sea, what happened to you to make you flee? O Jordan, what was it that made you turn and run?

Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord’s wraparound presence surrounds his people, protecting them now and forever.

When there is no clear prophetic vision, people quickly wander astray. But when you follow the revelation of the Word, heaven’s bliss fills your soul.

This is the prophecy against Babylon that God revealed to Isaiah, son of Amoz:

They pour into the streets wearing sackcloth. In public and in private, they fall down sobbing.

The Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, has a day in store—a day of tumult, trampling, and terror in the “Valley of Vision.” It is a day when they breach the walls and the people cry out to the mountain of holiness.

Both the houses of the kings of Judah and the houses of Jerusalem will be defiled like the place of Topheth—all the houses upon whose roofs offerings have been made to the whole host of heaven and drink offerings have been poured out to false gods.’ ”

Yahweh declares: I will fight against you, Jerusalem, you who are enthroned above the valley, a rock over the plain. Those who say, ‘Who would dare come here and attack us and penetrate the defenses of our city?’

The attacking army of Babylon will seize this city, set it on fire, and burn it to the ground. The people offered sacrifices to Baal on those same rooftops and poured out drink offerings to other idols, provoking my anger.

because of all the wickedness of the people of Israel and Judah. They have all provoked my anger, their kings, their officials, their priests, their prophets, the people of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

“On all the housetops of Moab and in the streets, people are mourning because I have broken Moab like a discarded vessel for which no one cares,” declares Yahweh.

What I say to you in the dark, repeat in broad daylight, and what you hear in a whisper, announce it publicly.

Actually, there are numerous advantages. Most important, God distinguished the Jews from all other people by entrusting them with the revelation of his prophetic promises.

They shouted at the Danites, who turned around and answered Micah, “What’s your problem? Why have you come against us with such a company?”
