Then the Lord Yahweh said, “Just as my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years as a prophetic sign and a wonder as a warning of what is coming to Egypt and Cush,
Behold—here I stand, and the children whom the Lord Yahweh has given me are for signs and wonders in Israel, sent from the Lord Almighty, Commander of Angel Armies, who is enthroned on Mount Zion!
for I am your Savior, Yahweh, your mighty God, the Holy One of Israel! I give up Egypt as the price to set you free, Cush and Seba in exchange to bring you back.
Now, King Sennacherib had heard a report that the king of Ethiopia, Tirhakah, had allied with Hezekiah and was coming to fight against him. So when he heard it he sent messengers to Hezekiah with this message:
Then take an iron frying pan and place it on edge as though it were an iron wall between you and the city. Then direct your gaze toward the city, for it is under siege and you are besieging it. This is to be a sign, an object lesson for the people of Israel.
Let them watch as you shoulder your pack and go out into the dusk. And cover your face so that you cannot see the land you are leaving since I have made you a walking parable—a sign to warn the people of Israel.”
Yahweh says, “Egypt’s allies will fall, and the pride of Egypt’s might will crumble. They will fall by the sword from Migdol in the north to Syene in the south. I, Yahweh, have spoken.
I will give over the Egyptians into the hands of a cruel master; a brutal king will rule over them,” says the sovereign God, the Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies.
“War will come upon Egypt, and terror will invade the land of Ethiopia. Egypt’s foundations will be leveled, multitudes will be slaughtered, and her riches will be carried away.
