The Lord of Angel Armies has a day of humiliation in store for all the high and mighty, for all who are proud and self-exalting. They will be brought low.

Lord, my heart is meek before you. I don’t consider myself better than others. I’m content to not pursue matters that are over my head— such as your complex mysteries and wonders— that I’m not yet ready to understand.

God, all at once you turned on a floodlight for me! You are the revelation-light in my darkness, and in your brightness I can see the path ahead.

God laughs at the wicked and their plans, for he knows their day is coming!

It’s time to arise as judge of all the earth; arise to punish the proud with the penalty they deserve!

Yahweh detests all the proud of heart, for pride attracts his punishment— and you can count on that!

But when the Lord has carried out his purpose on Mount Zion and Jerusalem, he will punish the king of Assyria because of his overbearing arrogance and unrestrained pride!

Behold, the Sovereign Lord of Angel Armies is about to cut off the branches with terrifying power. He will cut down the exalted heights of the high, and all the lofty will be brought low.

“I will bring punishment to the world for its evil and to the wicked for their sins. I will shatter the arrogance of the proud, and will humble the pride of the high and mighty.

Wail, for the day of the Lord Yahweh is near! It will come with the destructive power of Shaddai.

Behold! The day of the Lord is coming with pitiless fury and fierce anger. The land will be made desolate, destroying the sinners who inhabit it.

Yet down to the underworld you go— into the depths of the pit!

Yahweh, the Commander of Angel Armies, has planned it! His plan is to eliminate the pride of your presumed splendor and to humiliate the honored of the world.

In that day, the Lord Yahweh will punish heaven’s host and the kings of the earth.

The ground itself mourns and withers; the soil languishes over the sins of its people, and the wealthy elite wither and languish.

He reduces rulers to nothing and makes the elite of the earth as nothing at all.

I will level their hills and mountains and dry up all their vegetation. I will turn rivers into islands and dry up their lakes.

The people will be humiliated, all of humanity humbled, and the arrogant will be brought low.

I am sent to announce a new season of Yahweh’s grace and a time of God’s recompense on his enemies, to comfort all who are in sorrow,

Are hyenas and birds of prey all trying to devour the people I chose for myself? Are birds of prey circling around her? Go, gather all the wild beasts and bring them to devour her.

“Even so, like a soiled undergarment, I will ruin all the arrogant pride of Judah and Jerusalem, says Yahweh.

A disaster! A terrible day like no other. It will be great tribulation for Jacob, yet he will be saved out of it.

For this is the day of Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, a day when he takes vengeance on his foes. The sword will devour until gorged, until drunk on their blood. For Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, is hosting a sacrificial feast in the land of the north, by the river Euphrates.

I am against you, O arrogant one! I, Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, decree: Your day of reckoning has now come, the time for me to punish you is here.

They have not denounced the people’s sin or warned them of trouble coming so that Israel might stand up in battle on the day of Yahweh.

And now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, extol, and glorify God, the King of heaven! All his works are right and true, and all his ways are right. He knows how to humble those who strut around in pride.”

Remember this: If you have a lofty opinion of yourself and seek to be honored, you will be humbled. But if you have a modest opinion of yourself and choose to humble yourself, you will be honored.”

“Remember this: everyone with a lofty opinion of who he is and who seeks to raise himself up will be publicly humbled. And everyone with a modest opinion of who he is and chooses to humble himself will be raised up before all.”

release this man over to Satan for the destruction of his rebellious flesh, in hope that his spirit may be rescued and restored in the day of the Lord.

For you already know quite well that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly and as a complete surprise.

But he continues to pour out more and more grace upon us. For it says, “God resists you when you are proud but continually pours out grace when you are humble.”
