The Passion Translation

Here is a prophecy concerning Moab: The city of Ar was devastated, destroyed in the night. The city of Kir was devastated, destroyed in the night.

But they will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia to the west; together they will plunder the people of the east. They will rule over Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites will obey them.

This is the prophecy against Babylon that God revealed to Isaiah, son of Amoz:

This prophecy came to Isaiah in the year King Ahaz died: Don’t rejoice too soon, you Philistines, just because the rod that beat you is broken!

Like harp strings, my heartstrings throb for Moab, and my inner being sighs for your broken walls, Kir-Hareseth.

We have heard about Moab’s pride. How haughty she is—filled with arrogance and insolence, with nothing more than empty boasts!

So now Moab will wail; everyone will wail over the ruin of their country. Lament and grieve for the foundations of Kir-Hareseth.

The mighty, gracious hand of the Lord Yahweh will rest upon this mountain, but the Moabites will be trampled under his feet as straw gets trampled into the manure.

He will tear down the high walls of Moab’s fortresses and flatten them into the dust.

the Egyptians, the people of Judah, the Edomites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, and the tribes in the desert who shave their heads bald. The men in all those lands are uncircumcised. And the Israelites are just like them because their hearts are uncircumcised.”
