This is the prophecy against Babylon that God revealed to Isaiah, son of Amoz:

Here is the vision that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, received by divine revelation concerning what was going to happen to Judah and Jerusalem during the times of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

God will overthrow Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, the splendor and pride of the Babylonians, exactly as he did to Sodom and Gomorrah.

This prophecy came to Isaiah in the year King Ahaz died: Don’t rejoice too soon, you Philistines, just because the rod that beat you is broken!

Here is a prophecy concerning Moab: The city of Ar was devastated, destroyed in the night. The city of Kir was devastated, destroyed in the night.

This is God’s message for Damascus: “Behold, Damascus is gone! It is no longer a city, only a heap of rubble.

A prophecy concerning Egypt: Behold! The Lord Yahweh is riding on a swift-soaring cloud! He is on his way to Egypt! The god-idols of Egypt will tremble at his presence, and the hearts of the Egyptians will melt within them!

At that time the Lord Yahweh said to Isaiah, the son of Amoz, “Take off your clothes and sandals.” Isaiah did as he was told and walked about naked and barefoot.

A prophecy concerning the “Valley of Vision”: What’s happening with you? Why have you all gone up to the rooftops?

“And in that day,” declares the Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, “the nail fastened in a secure place will give way and be cut off and fall. And all the load hanging on it will fall off.” The Lord Yahweh has spoken.

This is what Yahweh, your Kinsman-Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, says: “For your good, I will send for the Babylonians; I will bring them all as fugitives and turn the shouting of the Chaldeans into mourning.

Yahweh opened my eyes to see a supernatural vision. It happened after King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had taken into captivity Jehoiakim’s son King Jeconiah, his officials, and all artisans and skilled workers and brought them to Babylon. In this vision, I saw two baskets of figs placed in front of Yahweh’s temple.

From ancient times, the prophets who preceded you and me prophesied war, disaster, and plague against many countries and great kingdoms.

Yahweh spoke to me this prophecy against mighty Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans:

“We were mocked and ashamed; we were covered with disgrace because foreigners had entered the temple of Yahweh’s holy places.”

Answer them with these words: ‘Lord Yahweh says to you that this prophetic oracle from God concerns the ruler in Jerusalem and all the people who live there.’
