With righteousness he will uphold justice for the poor and defend the lowly of the earth. His words will be like a scepter of power that conquers the world, and with his breath he will slay the lawless one.

Messiah, I know God himself will establish your kingdom as you reign in Zion-glory. For he says to you, “Rule in the midst of your enemies!”

And you will shepherd them with unlimited authority, crushing their rebellion as an iron rod smashes jars of clay!’ ”

You have power to transform man’s futile anger into praise. The fury of your enemies only causes your fame to increase.

Learn what it means to do what is good by seeking righteousness and justice! Rescue the oppressed. Uphold the rights of the fatherless and defend the widow’s cause.

“I will bring punishment to the world for its evil and to the wicked for their sins. I will shatter the arrogance of the proud, and will humble the pride of the high and mighty.

And through him the poorest of the poor will find pasture and the needy will lie down in peace. The Lord will starve the root of the Philistines with a famine that will annihilate your survivors.

Then a government of unfailing love will be established, with a faithful king in the tabernacle of David, passionate for justice and swift to do what is right.

He will judge fairly between the nations and settle disputes among many peoples. They will beat the swords they used against each other into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. No nation will take up weapons against another, nor will they prepare for war anymore.

The meek will overflow with fresh joy in the Lord Yahweh, and the poor will shout their praises to the Holy One of Israel!

Yahweh comes to issue the guilty verdict of the elders and leaders of his people, saying: “You are the ones who have ruined the nation! Your houses are full of what you’ve stolen from the poor!

His breath is as overwhelming as a flooding river reaching up to the neck. He sifts the nations in his sieve of destruction and places a bridle in their jaws that causes them to wander.

And when his rod strikes the Assyrians, they will be terror-stricken by the mighty voice of Lord Yahweh.

From long ago, the king’s fiery burial place has been prepared, stacked high with plenty of firewood to fuel the flame. Yahweh’s breath, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it.

Look—a new era begins! A king will reign with righteousness, and his princes according to justice!

The deceiver’s schemes and plans are evil. He schemes of cheating the poor, even when their plea is just.

The Lord Yahweh is our Judge, our Lawgiver, and our King; he will save us completely!

The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of Yahweh blows upon it; the people are just like grass!

He gives me words that pierce and penetrate. He hid me and protected me in the shadow of his hand. He prepared me like a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

The mighty Spirit of Lord Yahweh is wrapped around me because Yahweh has anointed me, as a messenger to preach good news to the poor. He sent me to heal the wounds of the brokenhearted, to tell captives, “You are free,” and to tell prisoners, “Be free from your darkness.”

Great and vast is his dominion. He will bring immeasurable peace and prosperity. He will rule on David’s throne and over David’s kingdom to establish and uphold it by promoting justice and righteousness from this time forward and forevermore. The marvelous passion that the Lord Yahweh, Commander of Angel Armies, has for his people will ensure that it is finished!

At that time, I will cause a righteous Branch to sprout from David’s lineage. And he will administer justice and righteousness in the land.

And remind them to never tear down anyone with their words or quarrel, but instead be considerate, humble, and courteous to everyone.

If you consider yourself to be wise and one who understands the ways of God, advertise it with a beautiful, fruitful life guided by wisdom’s gentleness. Never brag or boast about what you’ve done and you’ll prove that you’re truly wise.

In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. And his face was shining like the brightness of the blinding sun!

Then I saw heaven opened, and suddenly a white horse appeared. The name of the one riding it was Faithful and True, and with pure righteousness he judges and rides to battle.

A sharp sword came from his mouth with which to conquer the nations, and he will shepherd them with an iron scepter. He will trample out the wine in the winepress of the wrath of God.

So repent, then, or I will come quickly to war against them with the sword of my mouth.
