Then seven days later, massive floodwaters covered the earth.

For in seven days I will send rain and flood the earth for forty days and forty nights. Every living thing that I made I will wipe off the face of the earth.”

Before evening, the dove came back to him—and there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! So Noah realized that the waters had finally subsided from the earth.

Then he waited another seven days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him in the ark.

But the dove found no place to rest, so it returned to Noah in the ark because the waters still covered the face of the earth. Noah put out his hand and grasped the dove and put it back into the ark.

I waited and waited and waited some more, patiently, knowing God would come through for me. Then, at last, he bent down and listened to my cry.

Yes, we will follow your ways, Lord Yahweh, and entwine our hearts with yours, for the fame of your name is all that we desire.

I will wait for the Lord Yahweh, who hides his face from the family of Jacob. And I will place all my hope in him!

So because our hope is set on what is yet to be seen, we patiently keep on waiting for its fulfillment.
