Pharaoh had him ride in the chariot reserved for the second-in-command and sent runners going before him, crying out, “Kneel!” In this way, Pharaoh placed Joseph over all the land of Egypt.

Now Joseph was the governor of the land of Egypt, which meant he supervised the sale of grain to all the people. One day, Joseph’s ten brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces on the ground.

Joseph was waiting in his house when Judah and his brothers arrived. When they saw Joseph, they all fell to the ground before him.

Joseph, through his tears, said to his brothers in Hebrew: “I am Joseph! Is father still alive?” His brothers stood there stunned, scared, and speechless.

‘Tell Joseph that I beg him to completely forgive the sin of his brothers who treated him so harshly.’ Now, please forgive us, servants of the God of your father, of the horrible wrong we did to you.” Joseph cried and wept as they read this message to him.

But Joseph dried his tears and said, “Don’t be afraid. How could I ever take the place of God?
