Dan will be a snake waiting by the roadside, like a snake in the grass. He bites the horse’s heels, making its rider fall backward.

Lord, I’m longing for more of your salvation, for I want to do what pleases you.

I wait for your deliverance, O Lord, for your words thrill me like nothing else!

May your tender love overwhelm me, O Lord, for you are my Savior and you keep your promises.

The way I love you is like the way a servant wants to please his master, the way a maid waits for the orders of her mistress. We look to you, our God, with passionate longing to please you and discover more of your mercy and grace.

This is why I wait upon you, expecting your breakthrough, for your Word brings me hope.

How I wish that Israel’s rescue would arise from the midst of Zion! When Yahweh restores his people, Jacob’s joy will break forth and Israel will be glad!

I waited and waited and waited some more, patiently, knowing God would come through for me. Then, at last, he bent down and listened to my cry.

The wicked are crushed by every calamity, but the righteous find a strong hope in the time of death.

For this reason the Lord is still waiting to show his favor to you so he can show you his marvelous love. He waits to be gracious to you. He sits on his throne ready to show mercy to you. For Yahweh is the Lord of justice, faithful to keep his promises. Overwhelmed with bliss are all who will entwine their hearts in him, waiting for him to help them.

Yahweh, be gracious to us, for we wait for you. Be our strength every morning and rescue us when troubles come.

Now it’s time to make a deal with my master, the king of Assyria. I will give you two thousand horses if you’re able to come up with as many men to ride them.

So a prominent Jewish leader named Joseph, from the village of Ramah, courageously went to see Pilate and begged to have custody of the body of Jesus. Joseph was a highly regarded member of the Jewish council and a follower of Jesus who was eagerly awaiting the kingdom of God.

But the angel reassured her, saying, “Do not yield to your fear, Mary, for the Lord has found delight in you and has chosen to surprise you with a wonderful gift.

As they came to the temple to fulfill this requirement, an elderly man was there waiting—a resident of Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. He was a very good man, a lover of God who kept himself pure, and the Spirit of holiness rested upon him. Simeon believed in the imminent appearing of the one called “The Refreshing of Israel.”

The entire universe is standing on tiptoe, yearning to see the unveiling of God’s glorious sons and daughters!

So because our hope is set on what is yet to be seen, we patiently keep on waiting for its fulfillment.

But we have the true hope that comes from being made right with God, and by the Spirit we wait eagerly for this hope.

And now you eagerly expect his Son from heaven—Jesus, the deliverer, whom he raised from the dead and who rescues us from the coming wrath.
