The Passion Translation

Now Israel could barely see, for his eyes were failing because of old age. So, Joseph brought his sons closer to him, and Joseph’s father, their grandfather, hugged and kissed them.

When Isaac was very old and blind, he called for his oldest son, Esau, and asked him, “My son?” “I am here, father,” Esau answered.

So he came near and kissed him. Isaac recognized the smell of his son’s clothes and blessed him, saying, “Ah, the smell of my son is like the smell of a lush field that Yahweh has blessed!

Early the next morning, Laban kissed his daughters and grandchildren, blessed them, and then he returned home.

With tears streaming down his face, Joseph kissed each brother, one by one. After their tearful, emotional embrace, they took time to speak brother-to-brother.

Tearfully, Israel said to Joseph, “I never thought I’d see your face again, and now, God has let me see my grandchildren as well!”

When Israel noticed Joseph’s two sons, he said, “Who are these?”

Truly Yahweh’s arm is not too powerless to save you nor his ear too deaf to hear.

Go and preach a message that will make their hearts dull, their ears plugged, and their eyes blind. Otherwise, their eyes will begin to see, their ears will begin to hear, their hearts will begin to understand, and they will return to me for healing and be healed.”
