Genesis 42:6

The Passion Translation

Now Joseph was the governor of the land of Egypt, which meant he supervised the sale of grain to all the people. One day, Joseph’s ten brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces on the ground.

That evening, the two angels came to Sodom while Lot was sitting at the city’s gateway. When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed with his face to the ground.

Then Jacob went ahead of them to face Esau. As he approached his brother, he bowed down to the ground seven times before reaching him.

Pharaoh had him ride in the chariot reserved for the second-in-command and sent runners going before him, crying out, “Kneel!” In this way, Pharaoh placed Joseph over all the land of Egypt.

Then began the seven years of famine, just as Joseph prophesied. Although there was a severe famine everywhere else, food was available throughout the land of Egypt.

So because of the severity of the worldwide famine, people from all over the world had to come and buy grain from Joseph.

Joseph was waiting in his house when Judah and his brothers arrived. When they saw Joseph, they all fell to the ground before him.

When they arrived, they ran to their father and announced, “Joseph is still alive! Not only that, he is the ruler of all Egypt!” The news so stunned Jacob that he nearly fainted. He could not believe his ears!

So it was God, not you, who sent me here. God has made me a father to Pharaoh, the master of his entire household, and the ruler over all of Egypt.

Joseph then removed them from his father’s knees and bowed low in respect before his father with his face to the ground.

People will curse the businessman with no ethics, but the one with a social conscience receives praise from all.

The descendants of your oppressors will come bowing low before you, and all who hated you will bow down at your feet. They will call you The Beautiful City of Yahweh, Glorious Zion of the Holy One of Israel.”

God rescued him from all his oppression and granted him extraordinary favor before Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. Pharaoh appointed him as the overseer of his nation and even of his own palace.
