So Israel’s sons were among those who went to Egypt to buy grain, for the famine in the land of Canaan was severe.

As the famine worsened over all the land, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe everywhere.

Then began the seven years of famine, just as Joseph prophesied. Although there was a severe famine everywhere else, food was available throughout the land of Egypt.

Even though you intended to hurt me, God intended it for good. It was his plan all along, to ensure the survival of many people. So, don’t worry. I myself will provide for you all that you need, both for you and your little ones.”

When Jacob learned there was food in Egypt, he said to his sons, “Why are you standing around here staring at each other?

At that time, a severe famine struck the land of Canaan, forcing Abram to travel down to Egypt and live there as a foreigner.

Now the famine in the land continued to grow more severe.

Now Joseph was the governor of the land of Egypt, which meant he supervised the sale of grain to all the people. One day, Joseph’s ten brothers came and bowed down before him with their faces on the ground.

And the people of Egypt and Canaan spent all their money to buy grain. Joseph gathered all the money from the sale of grain and deposited the wealth into Pharaoh’s treasury.
