So before God destroyed the cities of the plain where Lot had settled, he remembered his affection for Abraham and spared Lot from all the destruction.

God’s heart was moved with compassion as he remembered Noah and all the animals, large and small, that were with him in the ark. And God caused a wind to sweep across the earth again and the waters subsided.

Yet he rescued a righteous man, Lot, suffering the indignity of the unbridled lusts of the lawless.

God, you watch carefully over all your devoted lovers like a bodyguard, but you will destroy the ungodly.

Even if these three godly men lived there, as surely as I, Lord Yahweh, am the living God, they would not be able to save even their own children. They alone would be spared, and the country would become a desert.
