Genesis 14:13

The Passion Translation

One who escaped came to Abram the Hebrew and told him what had happened to Lot. Abram was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite. Mamre had two brothers, Eshcol and Aner, who were allied by treaty with Abram.

Abram moved his camp and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built another altar to Yahweh.

Yahweh appeared once again to Abraham while he lived by the oak grove of Mamre. During the hottest part of the day, as Abraham sat at his tent door,

“I give you my oath,” Abraham answered.

So Abraham took sheep and cattle, gave them to Abimelech, and the two men made a covenant.

After completing their pact at Beersheba, King Abimelech and Phicol, his army commander, departed and returned to Philistine country.

she called for her household servants and said to them, “See! My husband brings this Hebrew foreigner here to make fools of us! He barged into my house and tried to have sex with me, and I screamed;

For I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and I have done nothing here to deserve being thrown into this dungeon.”

There was a young Hebrew man imprisoned with us who had been the personal servant to the captain of the guard. And when we told him our dreams, he interpreted them and told each of us their meaning.

First, they served Joseph who was seated apart from his brothers, then the brothers by themselves, and the Egyptians by themselves. (It would have been utterly offensive for the Egyptians to eat at the same table with the Hebrews.)

Everyone was to free their Hebrew slaves, men and women, and no longer enslave a fellow Jew.

Are these “super-apostles” of yours Hebrews? I am too. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? Me too!

And consider the example that Jesus, the Anointed One, has set before us. Let his mindset become your motivation.
