The Passion Translation

So Abram obeyed Yahweh and left; and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran after his father died.

Faith motivated Abraham to obey God’s call and leave the familiar to discover the territory he was destined to inherit from God. So he left with only a promise and without even knowing ahead of time where he was going, Abraham stepped out in faith.

Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot, the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they all departed together from the Chaldean city of Ur to go into the land of Canaan. But when they journeyed as far as Haran, they settled there.

Here are the descendants of Terah. Terah was the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran, and Haran was the father of Lot.

“So Abraham left southeastern Iraq and began his journey. He settled in Haran and stayed there until his father passed away. Then God had him move to the land of Israel with only a promise.

So Abraham waited patiently in faith and succeeded in seeing the promise fulfilled.

Abram had already lived ten years in the land of Canaan when his wife Sarai took her Egyptian slave girl Hagar and gave her to Abram to be his second wife.

Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar gave birth to Ishmael.

Abraham lived a total of one hundred and seventy-five years.

Jacob left Beersheba and journeyed toward Haran.

Now Lot, who accompanied Abram, was also rich and had accumulated flocks, herds, family, and servants.
