The Passion Translation

Gabriel, whom I had seen in a vision previously, came flying down from heaven. He touched me at the time of the evening sacrifice.

So bless the Lord, all his messengers of power, for you are his mighty heroes who listen intently to the voice of his word to do it.

You make your messengers into winds of the Spirit, and all your ministers become flames of fire.

Let my prayer be as the evening sacrifice that burns like fragrant incense, rising as my offering to you as I lift up my hands in surrendered worship!

Standing above him were the angels of flaming fire, each with six wings: with two wings they covered their faces in reverence, with two wings they covered their feet, and with two wings they flew.

Their wings were divided into two pairs; one pair was extended upward so that each one touched the wingtips of the one next to it, and the other pair covered its body.

And the living creatures kept disappearing and reappearing like shooting stars.

Then I felt a powerful hand grip me and help me to my hands and knees. I was trembling with fear!

Then suddenly, one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I was finally able to speak. So, I said to the one standing in front of me, “My lord, this vision has left me overcome, undone, and overwhelmed. I feel totally weak and helpless.

Once again, the one who looked like a man gripped me and imparted strength to me.

Then I heard the voice of someone calling out over the waters of the Ulai canal, “Gabriel, help this man understand the meaning of his vision.”

When he spoke with me, I lost consciousness and passed out. But he took hold of me and raised me to my feet.

And at three o’clock Jesus shouted with a mighty voice in Aramaic, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” —that is, “My God, My God, why have you deserted me?”

Then the angel said, “I am Gabriel. I stand beside God himself. He has sent me to announce to you this good news.

During the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, the angel Gabriel was sent from God’s presence to an unmarried girl named Mary, living in Nazareth, a village in Galilee. She was engaged to a man named Joseph, a true descendant of King David.

One afternoon about three o’clock, he had an open vision and saw the angel of God appear right in front of him, calling out his name, “Cornelius!”

The next day around noon, as Cornelius’ men were approaching Joppa, Peter went up to the flat roof of the house to pray.

when all at once an angel of the Lord appeared, filling his prison cell with a brilliant light. The angel struck Peter on the side to awaken him and said, “Hurry up! Let’s go!” Instantly the chains fell off his wrists.

One afternoon Peter and John went to the temple for the three o’clock prayer.

What role then, do the angels have? The angels are spirit-messengers sent by God to serve those who are going to be saved.

And about his angels he says, “I make my angels swift winds, and my ministers fiery flames.”

And in my vision I saw the horses with riders wearing breastplates of fire and of sapphire and of sulfur. The horses had lions’ heads breathing out fire and smoke and sulfur.
