terror gripped him! The color drained from his face, his knees began to knock together, and he wet himself.

Now I’m completely exhausted. Every joint of my body has been pulled apart. My courage has melted away.

Make them blind as bats, groping in the dark. Let them be feeble, trembling continually.

Strengthen those who are discouraged. Energize those who feel defeated.

Not one warrior stumbles or grows weary— not even stopping to rest or sleep; they are battle ready!

The king of Babylon heard the news, and his strength melted away. Anguish seized him, like the pain of a woman in labor.

And when they ask, ‘Why these groans?’ reply, ‘Because of what I’ve heard is about to happen. Every heart will melt with fear, and every hand grow limp. Everyone will faint with fright and wet themselves. Behold, it is coming now! It is here!’ I, Lord Yahweh, have spoken.”

Every hand will grow weak. Gripped with fear, they wet themselves.

In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had an ominous dream. It left him so disturbed that he could not sleep.

Upon hearing this, Nebuchadnezzar was filled with anger, and his face was distorted with rage against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered his men to heat the fiery furnace seven times hotter than it usually was.

Upon hearing this, Daniel (known as Belteshazzar) was visibly shaken for a while and troubled in his thoughts. The king noticed this and said to him, “Belteshazzar, do not be alarmed by the dream and its meaning.” Belteshazzar answered, “My lord, if only the dream applied to those who hate you and its interpretation were for your enemies!

One night, I had a terrifying dream. While I was lying on my bed, frightening visions passed through my head, and I was tormented by what I saw.

Then all at once, a human hand appeared out of thin air, and its finger began writing on the white-washed wall of the palace, illuminated by the lampstand nearby. When the king witnessed this strange hand as it was writing,

That is all that I saw in my dream. I, Daniel, was so greatly terrified by my thoughts that my face turned pale, but I hid the vision in my heart.

So be made strong even in your weakness by lifting up your tired hands in prayer and worship. And strengthen your weak knees,
