When I witness the rebellious breaking your laws, it makes me weep uncontrollably!

I grieve when I see how the faithless ones live, for they just walk away from your promises.

My love for you has my heart on fire! My passion for your house consumes me! Nothing will turn me away, even though I endure all the insults of those who insult you.

When I tell myself, “I’m not going to speak his message ever again or prophesy any more in his name,” then all at once you are within me like a burning, consuming fire deep in my bones. I try my best to hold your word inside, but I can’t hold it back any longer!

Now, it was the favorite pastime of the Athenians and visitors to Athens to discuss the newest ideas and philosophies.

For as I walked through your city, I was captivated by the many shrines and objects of your worship. I even found an inscription on one altar that read, ‘To the Unknown God.’ I have come to introduce to you this God whom you worship without even knowing anything about him.

When Paul left Athens he traveled to Corinth,

And now I am captive to the Holy Spirit to go to Jerusalem, without really knowing what will happen to me there.

When we could bear it no longer, we decided that we would remain in Athens

Yet he rescued a righteous man, Lot, suffering the indignity of the unbridled lusts of the lawless.
