The Message

Judah’s sons: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (Er and Onan had already died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

(These records are from very old traditions.) They were the potters who lived at Netaim and Gederah, resident potters who worked for the king.

Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, a descendant of Zerah son of Judah, represented the people’s concerns at the royal court.

Judah: “Listen, God, to the Voice of Judah, bring him to his people; Strengthen his grip, be his helper against his foes.”
