Brothers,[1] my heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."

and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

But if I, brothers,[2] still preach[3] circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed.

as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death.
