For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness."

And he believed the LORD, and he counted it to him as righteousness.

And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever.

To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn.

And when those hired about the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius.

Have you not read this Scripture: " 'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;[2]

For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."

God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel?

He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was to make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well,

And to the one who does not work but trusts him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,

Is this blessing then only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? We say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness.

For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth."

and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness" -- and he was called a friend of God.

Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, "He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us"?
