The name of the star is Wormwood.[2] A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter.

When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah.[2]

but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;

She said to them, "Do not call me Naomi;[1] call me Mara,[2] for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.
