And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider's name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.

He shall come and strike the land of Egypt, giving over to the pestilence those who are doomed to the pestilence, to captivity those who are doomed to captivity, and to the sword those who are doomed to the sword.

And I will cast you out into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your streams; you shall fall on the open field, and not be brought together or gathered. To the beasts of the earth and to the birds of the heavens I give you as food.

A third part of you shall die of pestilence and be consumed with famine in your midst; a third part shall fall by the sword all around you; and a third part I will scatter to all the winds and will unsheathe the sword after them.

Shall I ransom them from the power of Sheol? Shall I redeem them from Death? O Death, where are your plagues? O Sheol, where is your sting? Compassion is hidden from my eyes.

"Moreover, wine[2] is a traitor, an arrogant man who is never at rest.[3] His greed is as wide as Sheol; like death he has never enough. He gathers for himself all nations and collects as his own all peoples."

the third white horses, and the fourth chariot dappled horses -- all of them strong.[1]

And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

"O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"

and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.

His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it.

So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, were released to kill a third of mankind.

By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulfur coming out of their mouths.
