And when he departed from there, he met Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him. And he greeted him and said to him, "Is your heart true to my heart as mine is to yours?" And Jehonadab answered, "It is." Jehu said,[3] "If it is, give me your hand." So he gave him his hand. And Jehu took him up with him into the chariot.

And he lifted up his face to the window and said, "Who is on my side? Who?" Two or three eunuchs looked out at him.

I took counsel with myself, and I brought charges against the nobles and the officials. I said to them, "You are exacting interest, each from his brother." And I held a great assembly against them

The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?

Arise, O LORD! Confront him, subdue him! Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword,

deliver me from those who work evil, and save me from bloodthirsty men.

He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede; then his own arm brought him salvation, and his righteousness upheld him.

I looked, but there was no one to help; I was appalled, but there was no one to uphold; so my own arm brought me salvation, and my wrath upheld me.

Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, look and take note! Search her squares to see if you can find a man, one who does justice and seeks truth, that I may pardon her.

And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.

And whenever the ark set out, Moses said, "Arise, O LORD, and let your enemies be scattered, and let those who hate you flee before you."

Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.

"Curse Meroz, says the angel of the LORD, curse its inhabitants thoroughly, because they did not come to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.
