And Haman recounted to them the splendor of his riches, the number of his sons, all the promotions with which the king had honored him, and how he had advanced him above the officials and the servants of the king.

He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD.

His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.

"See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!"[2]

All day long they injure my cause;[2] all their thoughts are against me for evil.

For their crime will they escape? In wrath cast down the peoples, O God!

Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them.

A rich man's wealth is his strong city; the poverty of the poor is their ruin.

Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.

When your eyes light on it, it is gone, for suddenly it sprouts wings, flying like an eagle toward heaven.

Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,

Ephraim has said, "Ah, but I am rich; I have found wealth for myself; in all my labors they cannot find in me iniquity or sin."

And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said to them again, "Children, how difficult it is[2] to enter the kingdom of God!

And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.'

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
