An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous escapes from trouble.

A fool's mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, have given your pledge for a stranger,

then do this, my son, and save yourself, for you have come into the hand of your neighbor: go, hasten,[1] and plead urgently with your neighbor.

The carved images of their gods you shall burn with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to the LORD your God.
