His speech was smooth as butter, yet war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

So you will be delivered from the forbidden[1] woman, from the adulteress[2] with her smooth words,

The mouth of forbidden[3] women is a deep pit; he with whom the LORD is angry will fall into it.

Why should you be intoxicated, my son, with a forbidden woman and embrace the bosom of an adulteress?[5]

to preserve you from the evil woman,[5] from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.[6]

With much seductive speech she persuades him; with her smooth talk she compels him.

to keep you from the forbidden[1] woman, from the adulteress[2] with her smooth words.

And I find something more bitter than death: the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and whose hands are fetters. He who pleases God escapes her, but the sinner is taken by her.

Your lips drip nectar, my bride; honey and milk are under your tongue; the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.
